Peripheries: A Triptych for Amplified Bassoon

Peripheries is an exploration of the sonic margins where traditional acoustic craft meets the driving energy of modern electronic dance music. Born out of a desire to find compelling musical ways to integrate effects pedals with the bassoon’s unique timbre, the piece reimagines the instrument not just as a melodic voice, but as a dynamic generator of electronic textures. Across three interconnected movements, the work borrows rhythmic and structural elements from various EDM sub-genres such as techno and house music, placing the bassoon at the center of a pulsing, digital landscape.
